These are not the extended life oil filters that go 10,000 miles. Those would be Fram XG16 oil filters. The PH16 is a 3-6,000 mile filterBe sure to use extended life oil with longer life oil filters like Mobile-1 synthetic.The filter arrived in good shape the black bottom is 'gripping' that helps one tighten the filter in place even when hands are oily.The price is comparable to the brick and mortar stores and delivered free with amazonPRIME. Tested, Mann It Is!!
On my Benz, its typical high-performance engine requires a high-pressure and freer-flowing lubrication system to meet the vehicle's engine-depended systems, such as A/C, electrical functions, suspension, etc.One time, I used a paper-based filter made by a popular brand filter co. in orange packaging box (and respective change of the full synthetic engine oil). Shortly after 4K miles, the metal oil filter cap that houses the filter began leaking oil out through the screw-grooves. I thought it was caused by the loose cap; I then tightened it. It was still leaking oil out. Occasionally, I cleaned the oil up until after 7500 miles were driven when I thought I needed a new oil cap and time for the oil and filter change.Then, I suddenly thought that my oem engine oil filter was not a paper-based medium but a "cloth-like" fleece material. We've changed oil filters and several of our product development technicians are sportsman class drag racers. They insisted we offer an oil filter that corrected the headaches they experienced over the years changing oil filters. We have all been there: Whether it's remembering where that disappearing canister tool is; or having oil leak all over your garage and yourself; or finally giving up and pounding a screwdriver through the filter just to get if off. Each of our automotive and marine oil filters comes with a 1 nut welded to the top of the canister so they can be easily wrenched-off with a standard tool. Our motorcycle and ATV oil filters come with a 17 mm nut. Our oil filters use resin impregnated cellulose filter media. This allows for higher flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. High filter flow rates are important in racing vehicles where heavier grade oil is used and the oil is pumped much faster than in a standard vehicle. When the engine is circulating oil at high GPM rates, the high-flow oil filter helps reduce the loss of pressure through the filtering process. To satisfy the demands of racers, our oil filter has many features over and above the requirements of most vehicles. We use thicker canister walls for extra strength and durability which reduces the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris. good filter - good price
Weight of this filter tells you right away that you are getting a substantial filter. The 1-inch "nut" on the end plus the painted "dot" on one side of that nut makes for easy install. In tight applications, a typical adjustable wrench allows an easy turn. The added dot allows you to easily note when you have turned the filter the required 3/4ths of a turn onto the engine. It's a small extra, but it keeps you from having to scratch an index mark onto the filter body once it contacts the engine (as a reference mark to then turn the filter the additional 3/4-ths of a turn to seat it properly). Great Filter, Easy to Remove
2000 Dodge StratusI don't have any scientific results that say this filter has any better performance than other filters I've used on my car but I haven't had any problems either.The main thing I like about this filter is the nut on it that makes removal a breeze. Putting filters on my car for hand tightness is easy but I find my car can be difficult to remove with spacing around the filter area if the filter sticks at all. I use this product for both my mustang (306 stroker) and for my everyday ride. Might just be me but after a couple thousand, I noticed that my engine oil (mobile #1 synthetic) seems to look almost new when I check the dip stick???? Top to learn more
What I would expect fron K&N
If nothing else, the welded nut on the bottom of this filter makes it worth the additional cost over cheaper brands at discount stores. Add the sturdier construction and filter media and you have an excellent product. I will buy again and ordering from Amazon makes it hassle free. Top to learn more

I know oil isn't cheap these days but I'd be a wreck running oil that long. You simply have to do the math and decide if the potential savings you hope to gain would be greater than the cost of the bypass unit, the analysis's, over the cost of oil for a calculated period of time and miles.
If the oil is a dark color or there's a lot of dirt and grime in it, then you definitely need an oil change and oil filter replacement. You're looking for two things here: the level of oil and how the oil looks.
