While under warranty, my dealer claimed that the whine was "normal". From forums - I knew that wasn't the case. This part silenced my noisy power steering, was easy to install, and was reasonably priced. thx!

Product Description

Fits 2001 to 2007 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans equipped with 3.3L or 3.8L gasoline engines. Repair that noisy power steering on your valuable minivan, the reservoir is equipped with a filter in the base, which can become contaminated not allowing enough fluid to pass thru causing an abnormal whine or growling. Easy to install, can be replace in a few minutes, once replaced with the engine running the steering should be cycle from end to end and then held at one end and engine turn off, allow to sit approximatelly 15 to 20 minutes with the cap off to allow trapped air to be purged. I did a complete flush of the power steering fluid by connecting the return hose, the one that connects to the side of the resoviour, to a jug, turkey bastered the old fluid out of the resoviour, then continuously filling it with bottles of Max EZ, all while i had a helper turn on the engine and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. Be Careful though, the resoviour sucks in fluid extremely fast so be careful not to let it run dry or your system is going to have air trapped inside it, which isnt to hard to get out. On my Pathfinder, i replaced pretty much all of the old fluid as the return hose started spewing purple oil after a while. In all, it took 5 of these bottles, i barely had any left so i was cutting it close. During the test drive afterwards, i can say the steering is improved, not by a ridiculous amount, but it was def noticable, but that might not mean much as i havent changed the PS fluid for 90k miles and the old fluid was almost dark-brown/black. Nice product!
I'm a complete royal purple fan, but I will have to admit the effects are not too noticeable. Yes the steering seems very smooth, I don't think it's night and day difference, it's just nice to know that a very high quality product is being used in something that is so important to using a car. I have used their oil for over 30,000 miles on my Chevrolet Cavalier and am completely impressed with that. This is just a nice addition to the car.

Great device
I had problems with the power steering cooler of my 1996 Landcruiser (rusty and leaking). I tried copper tube and steel tube but all of them kept leaking after a few days of installation, until I had this little cooler. Certainly I will recommend it to someone who might need it. I checked with Toyota dealers, the original cooler costs about $370. It might perform better but not worth of the cost.

Skip the cheap aftermarket junk. Buy the real part instead
Buy this real part 1st time!I wasted time, effort and had to pay for the return shipping for a cheap Hayden Automotive 1009 part that was listed as compatible with my Dodge RAM 1500. It was 1/6 of the size of this part and the pipes were 1/2 the diameter, but of course I found this out late in the game.... Luckily this real replacement power steering cooler arrived a couple of days after I ordered it and was in place 20 minutes after that. A world of difference, in this case you get what you pay for and it's all good.
