Irwin 76 piece tap and die set
I bought this tap and die set beacause it had all the taps and dies necessaty for the vast majority of what i need. I was impressed with the quality of these taps and dies they cut very precise threads and they are made out of very tough alloy which will probably last longer than I will. I like the chart that comes with the set it is very good and will make using the right drill number easy. I am going to laminate these so they won't get dirty and oily. The only cons that I have with this set is that the taps are not stamped with the sizes the sizes are printed on them with some kind of ink and this will eventually wear off so its imperative to keep them in their respective places other wise you will have to measure them prior to each use. I would much prefer them to be stamped with the sizes but the box is clearly marked for each tap and die and if you put them back correctly after each use you'll get by. almost perfect
It is a 76 piece set.Cons: 2 of the taps didn't have the laser written identification. Will need to match with die or thread pitch gauge. On the thread gauge one of the leaves has incorrect thread cut. I will have to fix it by hand or use a tap as a gauge.Pros: Price was low. Made In USA taps and Dies USA lasered on each tap and die and identification of thread pitch and size Very high quality. Plastic case keeps pieces in there place very well. PLastic case has a compartment in Lid. Metric on one side and SAE on the other. Have used tap and dies about 10 times, absolutely satisfied.

A good set, just one minor complaint
The set is what you would expect in this price range. My only complaint is the plastic carrying case. It is not possible to stand this case upright as the hinges create an uneven surface, so it must be led flat when stored. This is the only tool set I own where I have to either lay it down or wedge it between other toolsets to prevent it from falling over when not in use. I have a 30x20 workshop and space is a premium.The tools are typical Irwin mid-range quality. I don't need to use this set daily, so it will more than serve its purpose.
